TAOR TRAIL

1282

Taor Trail is designed to be suitable for both experienced and inexperienced riders. The groups are divided accordingly, and the daily routes vary in speed and distance.

Serbia is known for having the largest network of forest roads in Europe, which allows us to ride far from the city bustle, traffic, and asphalt — deep into nature.

What makes Taor Trail special is that it follows the slopes of Mount Povlen, a protected natural reserve. This region is also historically significant — ancient Roman roads once passed through here, and at the foot of the village lies a 13th-century town and a small church from the same period.

Within a 30 km radius, there used to be as many as 12 medieval towns. Of course, centuries of nature have covered most of them, leaving only a few ruins and remnants of Roman roads.

Our estate is located at 1100 meters above sea level, so most of your stay will be spent in this “air spa” environment. However, for one night we ride out to the area of Sebovina or Skakavci, where we stay at a traditional Serbian rural household. There, our hosts will welcome you with local products — homemade rakija (fruit brandy), honey, and authentic Serbian specialties. You’ll also get a glimpse into how a typical Serbian village lives today in the 21st century.

If the timing allows on your arrival day, we also organize a visit to the famous Jelić Winery in Valjevo, which produces wines from local grape varieties like Prokupac and Tamjanika. In addition, we visit the historic Čelije Monastery, dating back to the 13th century, which is a protected cultural monument of the Republic of Serbia.

1. Your Journey Begins

Your adventure starts the moment you land at Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade, where our team will be waiting to welcome you. A scenic drive will take you to our farm, nestled within the serene Povlen Nature Reserve. As the sun sets, you’ll enjoy a delicious homemade dinner, meet your fellow riders, and settle into the peaceful rhythms of the countryside.

2. Taorska Vrela

After a hearty breakfast, your first trail ride begins. Accompanied by an experienced guide, you’ll embark on a gentle ride to Taorska Vrela, a hidden paradise of crystal-clear springs flowing through lush greenery. This ride allows you to ease into the experience, getting comfortable in the saddle while soaking in the stunning scenery. A picnic lunch by the springs provides the perfect moment to relax before we ride back to the farm, where a warm dinner awaits.

3. Mount Povlen

The real journey into horseback riding begins. Before setting out, you’ll receive hands-on instruction on how to properly saddle and prepare your horse, ensuring you feel comfortable and confident. With your newly acquired skills, we head towards Mount Povlen, where sweeping panoramic views stretch as far as the eye can see. Riding through vast meadows and dense forests, you’ll experience the freedom of the trail like never before. We pause for a well-earned lunch at a scenic spot before making our way back to the farm.

4. Taor Hills

The adventure continues as we ride through the rolling Taor Hills, a landscape that feels like stepping into a storybook. With each passing day, your connection with your horse strengthens, and your confidence in the saddle grows. Lunches are enjoyed outdoors, surrounded by untamed nature, before we return to the farm for an evening of storytelling and relaxation.

5. Gostoljublje or Šebovina

One of the highlights of your journey is an immersive ride to the ethno village of Gostoljublje, where time seems to stand still. This charming village, with its traditional wooden cottages and authentic Serbian hospitality, offers a glimpse into the country’s rich cultural heritage. After an outdoor lunch, we settle in for a cozy overnight stay, enjoying a traditional dinner in this unique setting.

6. Gostoljublje -Taor or Šebovina-Taor

As we ride back to the farm the next day, we take a different route, unveiling new landscapes and hidden corners of the region. Each trail presents a new perspective, whether it’s crossing a babbling brook, riding through golden fields, or catching sight of wildlife along the way.

7. Last Dance

One of the most rewarding moments comes on Day 7, when you take an active role in horse care. You’ll learn how to clean a horse’s hooves and independently saddle up before setting off on a ride towards Tara National Park. This final full day on horseback takes you through untouched forests, deep valleys, and dramatic mountain views, giving you a true sense of adventure.

8 . Return to the airport

On the last morning, we gather for a farewell breakfast before heading back to Belgrade Airport, bringing home unforgettable memories and new riding skills that will last a lifetime.
