Experience untouched nature
You will be picked up from the airport and driven to your first accommodation at an altitude of almost 1,100 meters. It goes straight to the Povlen Mountains, an eastern part of the Dinaric Alps. The drive to the village of Taor – a settlement that has existed since the Bronze Age – takes about 2 ½ hours and upon arrival a warm dinner awaits you. Afterwards there is plenty of time to familiarize yourself with the surroundings and your four-legged companions.
After breakfast we drive to Divcibare which is currently a famous ski area.
Maljen belongs to the Ore Mountains and belongs to the Dinaric mountain system in northwest Serbia. It is characterized by a specific relief that allows favorable climatic properties, as well as a diverse and specific flora and fauna. Divčibare is located in the central part of Maljen . The heights that surround Divčibare protect them from the winds and also offer a view of parts of the Maljen massif as well as the near and far surroundings.
The highest peak of Maljen is Kraljev stol with 1103 m. Two parts are divided by the height of the Guard of Divčibare : Divčibare in the strict sense and Pitomine . This hill got its name during the Austrian rule in northern Serbia from 1718 to 1739. At that time the border between Austria and Turkey ran there, and there was the Austrian border guard. The guard consisted of bandits, residents of the surrounding villages (mostly from the village of Krčmara ). From this hill you can see the entire Divcibare field, other heights of Maljen , a range of mountains and the city of Valjevo . Valjevo Mountains: Medvednik , Jablanik , Povlen and Maljen belong to the Ore Mountains and are the last massifs of the Dinaric Mountains in northwest Serbia. The crown of these mountains is characterized by the fact that, with the exception of Maljen, they are closely linked.
Although it is often mentioned that Divčibare is a mountain, it is actually a field on the Maljen mountain, which, due to its specific reliefs and geographical location, is considered a separate tourist unit and as such is presented to all interested tourists who want to this is an interesting destination to visit and enjoy all of its advantages .
Today the road leads us through the Serbian steppe, which is reminiscent of Mongolia. The power of this steppe leaves no one indifferent and the 360 degree view gives us a feeling of space and freedom of movement.
On our tour today we will hardly see any houses, and it often happens that we do not see anyone except the climber. Silence, space, a view as far as the eye can see, horses, harmony …
In the afternoon we will reach Mount Rajac .
The ethno-village Kostunici is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Serbia, on the southern slope of the Suvobor mountain . There are two stories about how the village got its name and no one knows which is correct, probably because one talks about nature, the other about people. And we say – nature is cared for and loved here!
Above Kostunici lies Ravna Gora, a place of famous historical events that has been preserved in its original beauty. The surveys of Vidikovac and Babina Glava , Mokra pećina and other unspoiled nature gifts were given by God for the budget traveler to the traditional Serbia who meet and often return to these moments.
There is a swimming lake in the complex . The lake is surrounded by the Cer forest and is sunny on all sides. It was created by dividing the Čemernica river with a concrete dam just 300 m below the settlement with sculptures.
It is 1.90 m deep and 30 m wide. Children and sports enthusiasts have volleyball and soccer fields on the shores of the lake. There are also pottery and handicraft shops where passionate ethno collectors can add to their collections or bring “summer memories” to friends.
The facility has two restaurants with Serbian and international cuisine. T he entire complex was built according to Serbian architecture.
Today we are slowly leaving the Serbian steppe and returning to the Dinaric Alps. This transition from the mountain steppe to the Dinaric Alps is very impressive and shows us how much nature has changed in this area.
The ethno-village Gostoljublje is located 140 km from Belgrade and belongs to the municipality of Kosjeric, the village of Mionica . The village is near the mountain center Divcibare , on the south side of the Maljen mountain . Rural tourism is the main activity of this farm and agriculture is an activity that complements what is on offer in terms of food production. It is ideal for guests who want an active vacation and want to get to know the way of life and work in the country.
Slowly we are returning to the paths of the ancient Romans who took Dubrovnik over the Povlen mountain connected with the Danube . In this way, too, we visit our ever-dear Taor sources . There are many small water veins that arise from the porous limestone tuff – in winter the water is rather warm and in summer quite cool, on hot summer days a glass of the cold spring water gives you a very satisfying feeling. In earlier centuries there were around 20 active water mills along the water sources, which milled rye, barley and oats at full capacity. Most of them have disappeared, but a small watermill has remained, which can transport us a little back in time.
The freshly prepared food and the miller’s good mood underline the atmosphere and lifestyle of the highlands. After visiting the local miller, we go up to the initial farm, where a dinner with local fruit brandy awaits us, where we can exchange our impressions and ideas.
After a satisfying breakfast we start our journey to the airport
